Meet team member Alexis Gonzalez! Alexis is originally from Puerto Rico and when interviewing him, he gave great insight on his culture. We talked about his favorite traditions and culture. At CAM we want everyone to feel included and learning about each other's cultures helps create a special bond in the workplace.

One of Alexis' favorite traditions from Puerto Rico is eating all the good food on Christmas. A popular traditional food on Christmans is jollof rice with beans and pernil (pork). Pernil is a slow roasted marinated pork. Alexis said it is similar to barbeque here in America. There is always a bunch of food during the holidays especially on Christmas and it's a big part of their Christmas tradition.

A big part of Puerto Rican culture is Fiestas de la Calle San Sebastián. This festival takes place the third weekend in January and celebrates the saint. There is a big parade in the city with dancers and singers. This is one of Alexis' favorite cultural festivities because it is super fun and he gets to celebrate with all his friends and family.

Food is a big part of the culture in Puerto Rico. Alexis’ favorite food is mofongo and it originated in Puerto Rico. This dish is made of mashed plantains and is in a ball form. It is a very popular Puerto Rican dish and is one of Alexis' favorites!

Learning about Alexis’ culture was super fun! At CAM taking time to learn about our team members is very important. We want everyone to feel welcomed at CAM!
